An interview With Eileen Chubb

When Eileen Chubb opened the phone book looking for a summer job, she never imagined this decision would change her life forever. From a history of retail work, her life transformed into a tireless campaign for the protection of vulnerable elderly people suffering systematic abuse. Having tried all legal avenues and failed, she now heads Compassion In Care, a hotline for whistleblowers in the care industry and The Whistler, a similar organisation to help whistleblowers from all industries. She is also an investigative Journalist and member of the NUJ. When I called her up on the telephone this month, she told me her story, and that of Edna a vulnerable and abused victim after whom Edna’s Law is named. Note, this interview contains content some listeners may find upsetting.

Interview with Elinor Honigstein of Israeli Connections

How does a Jewish community centre in London cater for the Israeli community living in the UK? And how does it remain neutral on issues that often divide Israeli opinions, let alone the rest of the world? Meet Elinor Honigstein, head of Israeli Connections. Through a wide range of events from Hebrew sing-alongs to renowned speakers such as Ehud Barak, Israel’s most decorated soldier, she aims to do just that. When I Interviewed her at JW3 she was winding down the celebration for Israel’s 70th Independence day party. An event of food, wine, music and laughter that explains why Israel is such a unique place.

The exportation of Baby Elephants from Zimbabwe to China

Why are baby elephants in Zimbabwe being exported to China? How are they treated? And why should we care? Meet Zimbabwean activist and elephant lover Nomusa Dube. Now living in the UK, she has begun a tireless campaign to save the baby elephants from concrete cages in China. An exclusive interview in the B-bar restaurant, London, reveals all.

Media from my time in Brighton

In order to obtain a qualification in Journalism (NCTJ) I took a 32 week course at Brighton Journalist works.  This was a small privately owned college in the same building as the Argus, Brighton’s leading Daily.  Here I covered most aspects of Journalism including shorthand.  Here too I was able to publish several articles.  These and my first ever independent radio programme are listed HERE.. 

Why should the BBC employ me?

Here is a very short video produced as part of an application for a post with the BBC Extend scheme.  The growth in "Trampoline Parks" has been responsible for many injuries, but all users have to sign away their rights to protection.  This is very different to my local trampoline club.

Welcome to this blog, which hosts my journalistic output over the years.  The panel to the right here lists the pages which trace the history of my work in various guises.  Since Blogger is not accessible for editing by a screen reader, I haven't been able to add any media for quite a while, but hopefully this will be rectified soon.  This will include my work at BBC Radio Lincolnshire, for The South African, and other more recent work.
